It was 1996, I was obsessed with Giant Sand and especially the ‘Glum’ album which I later went on to produce a deluxe vinyl edition of. There was a lot of alt country emerging; Jayhawks, Uncle Tupelo, and many others. Nobody seemed interested, the perfect place to start my own fanzine, a shape-shifting glossy named after a Sand song, with Giant Sand/Howe Gelb mentioned in every issue…
